Former First Lady Lee Hui-ho Visited Gwangju Yesterday

The former first lady, Lee Hui-ho, wife of the late former President Kim Dae-jung, made a visit to Gwangju yesterday to receive winter goods made and donated by the handicapped in the city for North Korean children.

At a meeting held between the former first lady and the regional Blind Union, the group of visually impaired citizens in Gwangju promised to produce nearly 150 winter items, such as hand-knitted scarves and hats, and donate them to North Korean children.

Former first lady Lee Hui-ho previously expressed her strong will to visit Pyongyang to donate the hand-knitted hats and scarves for North Korean children.

Her trip was approved by the both South and North Korean governments, but was postponed until next spring, as Lee’s doctors and representatives advised her to delay the trip due to health concerns.
